Scope
The EMMI Workshop Exotic Quantum Matter: New Strategies for Measurement and Control will bring together researchers from different communities studying quantum many-body systems under the common theme of correlations. Across materials such as cold atoms, photonic systems, Rydberg platforms, nanostructures, and topological devices, correlations are the key ingredient behind emergent phases, collective dynamics, entanglement, and quantum functionality. The central goal of the conference is to understand how correlations are generated, how they manifest experimentally, how they can be diagnosed, and how they may be controlled for future quantum technologies.
Program Booklet and Book of Abstracts (update Sep 29)
The conference is planned to approach this goal in four topics along the following questions:
Emergent correlated phases in quantum materials
What new phases of matter emerge from strong correlations in solids and low-dimensional materials?
Synthetic and programmable many-body systems
How can programmable platforms create and control correlations beyond what is available in solid-state materials?
Correlations, topology and quantum information
How do correlations enable or constrain topological protection, entanglement structure, and applications in quantum sensing and quantum information processing?
Diagnostics of correlations
How can we detect, image, quantify, and verify correlations in complex quantum systems?
Running from September 30 to October 2, 2026 at Miramar Palace in San Sebastián (Spain), this conference will be the Grand Finale of a four-week program on Exotic Quantum Matter organized at the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) as the inaugural event of the SPARK program.
